Questions

Questions patients ask

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Suk?
Most patients arrive by physician referral. Dr. Suk's trauma practice works closely with referring physicians, and many patients are sent by a primary care doctor, an emergency department, or another orthopedic surgeon. If you are not currently working with a referring physician, call the office to find out whether your insurance plan requires one before scheduling.
What is orthopedic trauma?
Orthopedic trauma is the branch of orthopedics that treats injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissue caused by accidents, falls, and other sudden injury. This is Dr. Suk's clinical focus. He trained in trauma care through a fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery, following residency at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein School of Medicine, and his practice centers on injury care rather than elective joint replacement or sports medicine.
Is Dr. Suk accepting new patients?
Yes. Dr. Suk is accepting new patients, and referring physicians can reach the office directly to arrange a visit.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring a form of identification, your insurance card, and a current list of medications. If you were referred by another physician, bring any imaging, operative reports, or records from your injury if you have them; the office can also request records directly from the referring provider.
Does the practice accept my insurance?
It depends on your plan. Insurance questions are answered directly by the office: call ahead to confirm whether your plan is in network and whether your plan requires a referral for a trauma specialist visit.
How do I schedule an appointment with Dr. Suk?
Call the office to schedule. A member of the scheduling team will ask for your insurance information and, if you were referred, your referring physician's name and contact information.
What is Dr. Suk's training background?
Dr. Suk completed medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, residency at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein School of Medicine, and a trauma fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery. This training underlies his focus on orthopedic trauma care in Danville, PA. This page is educational and is not a substitute for medical advice. For questions about your specific care, contact the office directly.
